Sweet Smelling Memories…

How the memories twirl like the fall leaves… beckoning us to run and play…

06_K_UndertheVine_01

I spent the afternoon over at Grandma’s house assessing what needs to be done (paint wise and yard wise).  Grandma passed away October 2007 and Grandpa has been gone since October of 1999 and the house is in disrepair.  My heart misses them terribly and wishes I had paid more attention and loved them more when they were here.  In 1997, Grandma granted me a recorded interview of her life stories.  But I am sad that I didn’t get Grandpa’s done before he was taken quickly by a massive heart attack.
Standing under the grape vines today, I was “taken home,” back to the days when Grandpa and I would harvest the bountiful purple harvest and talk about life and grapes.  The smell…the colors…the memories flooded back.  Great memories of a wonderful set of grandparents I had the privilege of growing up close to and celebrating many holidays at their home.  No grape jelly or grape juice this year due to time… I will miss that, too!
The grapevine is out of control and wielding its way through the tree.  The grapevine encompasses an old clothes line and has taken over the apple tree next to it with grape vines as high as 1 1/2 stories high.  Thank you for looking and letting me share :)

What an incredible layout and journaling. I could also see and smell the grapevines, perhaps because we had a mulberry tree with similar memories. Beautiful kit and use of it.

Got goosebumps reading the journaling. What wonderfully sweet memories of your grandparents. You were so descriptive that I felt as if I was there with you. :)

Oh I am officially teary eyed now. You are so fortunate to have the memories of these special times. In this fast paced world we do not take the time to forge these special relationships..just to busy. I really love what you did with this page and think I will try to do something similar. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration.

Beautiful! This layout is exquisite, but it’s the memories that make it OUTSTANDING! That is scrapbooking at its finest :)
